A little cookie love....

so, cousin Trista and I were talking sometime last November and she made the suggestion that we should make Valentines cookies for the kiddums just like Grandma did when we were growing up. We decided to do it and after a "few" hours and a sleepover, we ended up with this! So much fun! Thank goodness for large families.....

She & 3

So....as some of you may know, I recorded a CD with some friends this past December. Although things didn't turn out quite like we were hoping, it ended up being a good experience and songs for you guys to (hopefully) enjoy :) Peter is at the piano, Dotson at the bass, Jim on the drums and me, myself and I on the vocals.....Ill be getting those ready soon so let me know if you want a copy! If you couldn't tell, we were at the end of a very very long day in the studio.....feeling a little pooped...

Koi, oh Koi!

So, some friends and I took a little trip into DC to visit the National Arboretum. I had no idea what it was all about but it has some amazing things to see there. One of my favorite things about this little excursion was watching the Koi fish. SO FUNNY!! I think I could have fed them for hours.

They had a few different buildings dedicated to bonsai trees. Some were hundereds, yes, hundreds of years old. The Lemon tree has been--as they call it--"In training since 1875". Wow.... And how about the miniature asian scenes set up within the bonsais.....the detail work was beyond amazing--not to mention a little tempting to know what they were talking about so intently... tee hee...

Lastly, they had the original pillars from the Capital Building there, which I had no idea that the originals weren't still with the rest of the building!! It was a relaxing, educational day.....

How about a restart??

So, all my intentions were to start this blog to show you all about my VERY important life......and the first conquest was to post all about Brazil with momma mia. Clearly, a "couple" months have past since then. But I thought I would try to hit a couple of highlights throughout the past few months or so to catch you all up on what is happening in VA!

So, even before Brazil.....how about a few other random events that made me smile.

Tierney Sutton....an incredible jazz singer. We went to Blues Alley in Georgetown to see her. It was a very small venue where you could eat dinner while watching. We got there very early and got the best seats in the house. I was about two feet from her. I went with Sharyn, Michelle and Kelly. I don't get giddy too often about celebs but I was ridiculously happy to listen to her sing that night.....amazing.
